Sri Lanka pressed ahead Tuesday with an international seminar aimed at sharing its experience of defeating terrorism despite a boycott campaign and new claims that its troops committed war crimes. Sri Lankan opposition leader Mr. Ranil Wickeremesinghe is going to meet the newly elected Tamil Naadu Chief Minister Ms.Jeyalalitha in couple of days. The news has been confirmed by Mr. Ranil when he arrived at Madras airport last night. Sri Lankan opposition leader has gone to India on a three day visit on the invitation extended by the government. He would hold talks with Indian leaders including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna.

Former Sri Lankan Cricket captain Arjuna Ranatunge lashed out at President Mahinda Rajapakse accusing him of interfering in Sri Lanka’s cricket. The cricketer turned politician told Lanka Independent, it was petty politics that has ruined the game of cricket in the country and this year dashed the nation’s hope of winning the world cup
